Be humble, and the world will be yours.

A great man is always willing to be little.

- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Why a set of specific people who are the world's great leaders? I have attended many seminars in my life. I have heard their names almost in many sessions. A few of them are Swami Vivekananda, Abraham Lincoln, Ratan Tata, Anand Mahindra, Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, etc. The list

doesn't end here. I found one common factor in all of them. "The characteristic of being humble to others."

Their humble nature has made them world-famous leaders. I try to understand that how being humble is going to give me a happy and successful life?

Let's understand it. Being humble is not medicine. It's a habit that you need to develop. You need to learn and practice it.

You'll see the following benefit of being humble to others.

  • People would love to interact with you. They would listen to you and will implement it. This is a leadership quality.
  • You will see a drastic change in you. You'll always carry a smile on your face, and it would be natural.
  • You'll be able to utilize your brain more effectively because there would be no tension. You will stop thinking. You'll always get support whenever you need it.

Lots of us in today's world believe in showing off, and we always carry ego in us. Ego kills everything. Have you ever seen the legendary Mr. Ratan Tata being egoistic? There are many articles published about his simplicity and humble nature. Recently he met his ex-colleagues. It never looked that a big shot visited his old colleague.

A successful person like Warren Buffet always believes in simplicity and being humble. It has given him the energy that he is still working. He is one of the gurus of the Financial Market. If he wanted, he would have lived a lavish life. He opted for a simple life and invested more in him.

Bill Gates spends a specific part of his earnings in social service. It is nothing but humbleness that has taken them to great heights. They all have invested in others and got the return.

We, on the other hand, don't believe in this. We buy a bigger car if our neighbor purchases a new car. We always feel jealous and try to show off more. It is not at all required. Remember the article of Mango and Palm Tree. I would love to live like a mango tree who will get respect everywhere. I don't want to become a Palm tree at all.

How to go about it? You can start it from your home and neighborhood effective today. Some of the activities I do daily and would encourage you to follow them.

  • Whenever you are stepping out from your home, don't forget to greet your parents and elders.
  • There is no harm if you ask the security guard that how he is doing? How's everyone doing in his family?
  • It won't take you down if you help an old to cross the road
  • You'll feel happy if you'll buy food for a poor man.
  • Give the seat to a senior citizen or a lady if you're traveling in the metro or local.
  • Always Thank God for blessing you to help others.
  • Call those batch mates who are not in touch with you now.
  • Always encourage your team or colleagues at the workplace. Don't criticize them.

These are few basics that I do, and now I feel happy for being humble to others. It helps me in focusing on my work. Even If something hurts me, I look into the positive side of it. I don't react. Being humble to others has completely changed my life.

When I can do it. Why can't you?

Remember, Be humble, and the world will be yours.

All the best!
