The 4 W's Principle

By looking at other's success, we often ask ourselves that when we'll achieve our goals?

For a good happy life, we often discuss, we set goals, we are ready to start, then why do we fail? Have you given a thought to this? Later on, we give up and

compromise with the current situation. Now, let's take a look at the other aspect of it. We successfully achieve what we wanted to. Why did this happen? What has happened differently here?

Well, it would sound common but I would say we didn't follow the 4 W's principle properly.

Yes, you got it right. This is one theory that I created myself and found that works everywhere. From a small achievement to a big one. I have implemented it in my life and believe me it works. Let's discuss them in detail with examples from our day-to-day life.

1st W - Get your Why clear.

I always wanted to become a good public speaker. I did my MBA and got a campus placement in Sales in Pharma Industry. I used to meet doctors and used to explain to them about our products in detail and sometimes we used to organize health camps also where we used to educate the patients and the public about the benefits of the products. Now, I always used to feel inferior. After all, I never used to deliver a convincing presentation because my seniors always used to take over the presentation from me while I used to speak. This is because I had fear of public speaking. I almost gave up and thought that I am a failure and I can't do anything in my life.

However, time changed. I brought my confidence back upon meeting one doctor who appreciated my efforts and encouraged me to improve. Now I was confident and I got my Why clear that I want to improve my public speaking skills. So, it's very important to get your first W in place i.e. get you Why clear? Why do you want to do? What is the benefit? What would you achieve?

2nd W - Willingness to learn.

I always knew that it's a corporate world. You'll find hardly anyone who can help you in improving your public speaking skills to improve you. Hence, I found a strategy. I have started observing my friend circle and tried to focus on one guy who always used to be the center of attraction. Whatever he used to say we used to listen carefully and we used to enjoy it. I had a complex though but now as I had my why clear so I thought of taking help from him. I spoke to him in person and told him my concern. He readily agreed to help me and gave me few tips which I would share here.

Pick up any random topic of your choice and write something on it. Now, speak in front of a mirror and speak loudly on the same topic and watch your expressions in the mirror. Do you see yourself as a robot or machine? Do you look interactive or not? If not, try again. I did this and it helped. I invited him and deliver the topic in front of him. He gave me some improvement points and encouraged me. I stepped up the second ladder as I was learning it. You need to learn only then you'll be able to perform.

3rd W - Willingness to change.

I cleared two major obstacles and now the real challenge was there. I had to change myself a lot. By chance doesn't mean that you'll develop your ego and will through attitude on others. You'll change your friend circle immediately. Nothing of such is required. The change required was to change your overall personality. You need to take away the negativity from your life and bring in the positive environment around you. How would you do it? Very simple. Compliment yourself every day. Start living your dream every time. Slowly and gradually you'll see the transformation in yourself. This is the change you wanted to bring into yourself. For example: If I want to lose weight, I would have to change my daily routine. I would have to change to a healthy diet. I would have to add a workout to my daily schedule. All this is changing and if we're willing to change, we'll achieve what we want.

4th W - Will never give up unless you get it.

Well, we have stepped up to the 3rd step but now what? Are we done? Is it simple to become successful overnight? No, my friends. It's not that simple. A very brilliant example is your childhood. Remember, the first day when you stood up on your feet? You didn't stand up on your feet in a single go. You tried you failed and you fall. You again tried and kept on trying and finally, you were able to stand up on your feet.

The 4th W says the same thing. Don't give up unless you get it. I am sure that if you will keep trying you'll get what you want.

Let's not keep the article lengthy. Believe me, friends, if you'll follow the 4 W's principle in your life, I can assure you that you'll be able to achieve anything that you have aimed for and people will be surprised and will ask you how did you do it? I am sure that you'll be more than happy to share the 4 W's principle with them.

All the best!

Moloy
